Configuring credential settings

2024-02-15Last updated

You can configure the maximum PIN length that your Axis Powered by Genetec door controller accepts and whether PIN can be used when the readers are not on a Card and PIN schedule.

What you should know

  • To enforce Card and PIN mode so that both the card and the PIN are used to gain access, you must configure the reader settings in Config Tool.
  • Card and PIN mode only works during the reader schedule. Outside of the reader schedule, a reader behaves either in Card only or in Card or PIN mode, depending on the reader settings configured on the Axis Powered by Genetec unit. For more information, see Mapping door entities to physical door wiring.

Procedure

  1. In the Powered by Genetec page, click the Unit-wide parameters tab.
  2. In the Credential configuration section, configure the following options:
Powered by Genetec page - Unit-wide parameters - Credential configuration section.
    Reader setting
Applies only to Card and PIN readers when they are not on a Card and PIN schedule.
    You have two options:
    Card or PIN
Either the card or the PIN can be used to grant access.
    Card only
Only the card is used to grant access.
    Maximum PIN length
For keypad readers outputting PIN in 4-bit Burst Keypad Mode, the controller processes the PIN the moment the maximum length is reached, without requiring the ‘#’ key.
  3. Click Apply.
