Enrolling Axis Powered by Genetec units in Security Center

2024-04-15Last updated

To enroll an Axis Powered by Genetec unit in Security Center, select an Access Manager role, configure the Synergis™ extension port, and add the unit to the role.

Before you begin

Prepare the Axis Powered by Genetec unit for enrollment.

What you should know

Axis Powered by Genetec units are enrolled in the same way as Synergis units. This means that the discovery port configured on the Axis Powered by Genetec unit must match the discovery port configured on the Synergis extension of the Access Manager role. If you change the discovery port on one, you must also change it on the other.
Best Practice: If you have multiple Access Manager roles controlling Axis Powered by Genetec units on the same subnet, ensure that they use different discovery ports. Otherwise, you might experience performance issues.

Procedure

  1. If required, change the Synergis extension port to match the port configured on the unit:
    1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Access control task, and click the Roles and units view.
    2. Select the Access Manager, and click the Extensions tab.
    3. Select the Synergis extension.
    4. Select the discovery port and click Edit the item ().
    5. In the Discovery port dialog box, enter the port number configured for your units and click Save.
  2. Add the Axis Powered by Genetec unit to the Access Manager role.
Use the dedicated administrator user created for the enrollment of the unit in Security Center.
For information, see Adding Synergis Cloud Link units to an Access Manager role on the TechDoc Hub or watch the following video.

  3. Configure the input contact type.
The input contact type (supervision and normally closed or open) can only be configured through Config Tool. The procedure is the same as with Synergis™ units.
For information, see Access control unit - Synergis - Peripherals tab on the TechDoc Hub or watch the following video.

To use supervised inputs, install end of line resistors according to the diagram displayed under Specifications > Connectors > Supervised inputs in the Axis Powered by Genetec Help.
